Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Melissa Adams, Heather Reider, Brittan Ferrans, Monica Smith

Not in attendance: Katie Trodick, Elizabeth Westmoreland

Events Calendar

We reviewed the fall semester calendar of events:

  • School Supply Drop-Off (August 13, 8:30-9:30 AM): Does not make sense to have Kona Ice since drop off is in AM.

  • Boohoo Kindergarten Breakfast (August 19): Melissa and Brittany will organize this event. We will share the King Soopers rewards flyer. Melissa will contact the Kindergarten team to inform them of our plans.

  • Back to School Night (August 21): We are considering a Kona Ice fundraiser. Heather will look into this option.

  • Movie Night: Propose September 12 or October 2 as options to Christine. We should consider having a concession stand with snacks, drinks, and pizza for purchase. Melissa will chat with Christine.

  • Canvas Community Classic: This event likely won’t happen since Poudre is not playing this year.

  • Book Fair: Dates are scheduled for Fall: November 10-14. Kate W. is interested in leading this, so Melissa and Monica will reach out to Kate.

  • Dining Night Ideas: Penrose, Culvers, Spoons, Firehouse, and Chipotle. Brittany will reach out.

  • PTO Meetings: Will have an Open House for our first meeting on 9/3.

  • Eco Week: We brainstormed fundraising ideas for the spring, such as Mary’s Mountain Cookies. We need to discuss with the 5th-grade team how they are communicating with families about this, specifically regarding scholarships. PTO doubled its contribution last year, which is not sustainable. Melissa will discuss this further with Christine.

  • Walk-a-Thon Celebration: If we reach our goal, Kona Ice isn’t as special anymore. A foam/bubble party could be an alternative.

  • Summer Blast-Off: This event has been canceled two out of the last three years. Consider doing something earlier in May, perhaps a "Countdown Carnival" or "Almost at the Finish Line" event. Thanks Chat GPT. 

2025-2026 Budget

Budget Updates for 2025-2026:

  • Media Center Renovation (Phase 2): $15,000 allocated.

  • Family Fun Run: Change line item to Field Day and allocate $600 (for bounce houses).

  • Eco Week support: $5,000

  • Literacy Classroom Support: Remove as it is no longer needed.

  • Testing Snacks/Celebration: Increase to $2000.

  • 5th Grade Promotion: Remove this line item since we now have mini-grants.
