Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Melissa Adams, Heather Reider, Katie Trodick, Kate Walker, Leyla Badillo, Brittany Ferrans, Monica Smith, Brigid McAuliffe, Amanda Lager Gleason, Jessica Bullock, Ben Irwin, Abby, McMahon, Caty Ochs, Mike Ochs, Niki Perez, Katelyn Greenwald, Heather Nydahl, Corinne Deuel, Shirley Woods and Christine Hendricks

Welcome and Introduction

  • Attendance sign in sheet passed around.  Attendees introduce themselves and grades of children attending Tavelli.

Vote 

  • Last Month’s Minutes - passed around copies of last month's minutes.

    • Minutes from the September meeting voted on and approved unanimously.

Marketing and Communication

  • Marketing and Communications Parameters with PSD Guest - Cassie Philips MarComm strategy (Goals for Leyla/Ben)

    • Increase enrollment for the 26/27 school year

    • Gain more funding to:

      • offset what we'd lost from the district due to low enrollment

      • continue offering enrichment programs (ie: science, eco-week, MAC bus, etc)

    • Support + increase engagement with the PTO

      • PSD already has a marketing campaign with a new website.  PTO can tie in with PSD campaign 

      • New website coming in November

    • PTO to have its own social media

      • Melissa will work on Social Media Rules of Engagement

      • Know the policies on kids allowed to be posted

      • Check policies KHC and KHB for district requirements

    • PSD went over what's allowed to be placed on our fence

      • Banner for Kinder registration

        • Kinder Registration beings in November

      • School fencing allowed to have banners as long as they are primarily student/school/district facing

        • Banners from sponsors vs “billboard” style 

        • Examples on Fences at Timnath HS and FCHS

  • Fence cups should arrive in the next 2 weeks

    • Will say Tavelli with Paws

    • Volunteer signup to help (coming soon)

  • Yard signs 

    • PTO will sell them $10

      • 100 available in front office

    • Leyla will also work on a “Future Tigers” sign

School Updates (Christine/Shirley)

  • 482 Enrollment final number - 14 short

  • MAC Bus fundraisers

    • Painting night

    • Working with Ottercares on grants

    • Possible Bingo night fundraiser

    • Basket raffle. Donations with one basket per grade raffled off to parents

      • **HR note - be sure that you follow CO State raffle guidelines bc you may need to apply for a raffle license

    • Mikkelson Foundation grant

Budget 

Recent Events/Projects

  • Movie Night - Thank You

    • Great turnout

    • Concessions stand was a hit

      • Lots of questions about where’s the popcorn! Should we consider a popcorn machine

      • In the future, consider Candy Donations from families to sell

    • Makeup event

      • Some talk about a makeup event - likely would have to be indoors

  • Tavelli PTO Directory 

    • Add to Thursday note 

    • Need to sign up every year

  • Spirit Gear 

    • Orders closed on 9/30

    • As of 9/26 $2500 purchases which means $250 for Tavelli

    • Kate volunteered to help distribute when Spirit Gear arrives

Upcoming Activities 

  • Fundraisers

    • Rollerland Fundraiser - 10/2 -supports Dream Team

    • Painting and Me -supports Mac Bus

      • Led by school nurse Heather Sowden Lovato 

      • Volunteers from PTO needed

    • $20 for 20 (November)

  • Dining Nights

    • Music City Hot Chicken North Fundraiser - 10/15 - supports PTO 

      • 10% of all sales 

    • Culvers - Nov 11  - supports PTO

      • 10% of all sales 

      • Would need 4 volunteers ages 8+ 5-8pm

    • Penrose - 12/22 - supports PTO

      • 10% of all sales 

  • PTO Social - TBD

  • In School

    • Teacher Conferences:

      • Provide meal for teachers on Oct 14

      • Look into Panera (Heather will order)

    • Halloween Parties

      • Each class gets $25 (Monica will drop off week of Oct 6)

  • Scholarships

    • Form for both book fair and yearbook - due October 15

      • Approx 25 students received so far 

  • Proposals

    • Mac Bus - Otter Cares 

      • Christine working with Ottercares to have multiple grants/fundraisers to support MACBus

    • Dream Team - Otter Cares

      • Application submitted

    • Little Kids Rock  - The Kayla Marie Adsit Memorial Foundation 

      • Application submitted - Due 10-1
