Meeting Minutes

Attendees:  Melissa Adams, Heather Reider, Heather Nydahl, Katie Trodick, Katelyn Greenwald, Leyla Badillo, Brittany Ferrans, Aja Gregory, Evan Daldegan, Caty & Mike Ochs,  Shirley Woods and Christine Hendricks

  • Welcome and Introduction

    • Attendance sign in sheet passed around

    • Vote on Last Meeting’s Minutes

      • Passed around copies of last month's minutes

      • Minutes from the January meeting voted on and approved unanimously


  • School Updates  - Christine & Shirley

    • MAC Bus

      • Thanks for help with Bingo/Puzzles night $1000 raised for MAC Bus

      • Valentine flowers fundraiser raised $1500 for MAC Bus

      • Working with Future Ready Lab to get a high school student as intern

      • Still looking for additional donors

        • Most grants don’t want to fund salaries 

      • There are plans to make a video highlighting MAC bus features

      • Unify is bringing back the St Patricks Day Parade

        • Parade March 14th

        • $500 entry fee

        • Possible way to advertise MAC Bus

        • Christine will check if bus driver is available

    • Projections for next school year

      • Enrollment scheduled for 465 - this year is 486

      • 64 Kinders registered

      • Drop down to 3 sections in a couple of grades

    • Additional Security Measures

      • PSD added more levels of security through office

      • School has training every other year to stay up to date 

    • Social/Emotional Learning

      • Learning to self advocate

      • Adding another survey about social/emotional learning

      • Work on preventive measures vs reactive measures

      • Cave/Jungle Rooms

        • Cave is for calming and recentering

        • Jungle is a place for movement and to burn off energy

  • SAC/DAB Updates - Kate W

    • District Advisory Board (DAB)

      • Meant to be a bridge between school and district level activities

      • 2 New PSD Board of Education Members 

      • Feb 19th Meet and Greet at Taveill with 2 members of BOE

      • PSD has implemented an ICE protocol

      • School closures are likely for 27/28 school year

        •  2% annual decline

          • Loss of funding $6 million per 2%

        • Committee meeting to discuss closure options

    • School Accountability Committee (SAC)

      • Literacy growth inside school

  • Events/Projects/Activities

    • Classified Week happening this week  

      • PTO sponsored snack bar and Mocktails

      • Raffle for spirit gear

      • Gift card for all classified staff

    • Valentine’s Parties

      • $25 for each class 

    • Walk-a-thon - March 26 (color-run)

      • Kick Off - Thursday, Feb 26

        • Pledge packet goes home with kids on 2/26

      • Prize Coordination - Heather

        • Donation pickups (volunteers needed)

          • Heather to send out spreadsheet for pickup data 

      • Business Sponsorships

        • 7 business sponsors pledged (as of 2/2)

        • Amount: $2750

        • Last day of sponsorship 3/1

      • T-shirt Design Contest (runs until Feb 20)

        • Put Designs on Board  - Kate W will do 

        • Tally votes + give design to Monica for short orders

        • Winner announced March 6 

      • Marketing for Walk-a-thon

    • Moving to givebetter as a fundraising platform going forward
