Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Heather Reider, Melissa Adams, Katie Trodick, Anna Wright, Brittany Ferrans, Kate Walker, Amanda Lager Gleason, Ben Irwin, Elizabeth Westmoreland, Monica Smith, Katelyn Greenwald, Shirley Woods and Christine Hendricks

Welcome and Introduction

  • Attendance sign in sheet passed around.  Attendees introduce themselves and grades of children attending Tavelli.

Vote 

  • Last Month’s Minutes - passed around copies of last month's minutes.

    • Minutes from the March meeting voted on and approved unanimously.

Events

  • School Updates (Christine)

    • 480 is enrollment number given from district at 460 enrollment now

    • May 19th Bubbles and Popsicles for incoming kinders

      • PTO representative to be there for information 

    • Mac bus enrollment filling up.  

      • 4 weeks in June

      • Average 35 kids per day

      • Plans with guest teachers

  • Events/Projects

    • Tiger Trek Walk-a-thon Recap

      • Total School: 46,716+ Business: 6050 = $52,766!!!!!

      • Lehman - $8668 (most money by a class)

      • Dance (most participants) 13 participants 

      • School total laps - 5,922 laps, 1,184 miles, Fort Collins to Nashville or San Francisco 

      • Most laps per student for their grade level (awarded parties to each grade level winner):

        • Kindergarten: Heckart, 1st grade: Boeck, 2nd grade: Iverson, 3rd grade: Frazier, 4th grade: Pearson, 5th grade: Alexander

      • The following students had the most laps in their grade:

        • Kindergarten: Jacob C. and Abigail P.; 1st grade: Tenley H., Finn B., Forrest K., Leon S.; 2nd grade: Margot S., June S., Wesley  M.; 3rd grade: Kai W., Redding H., Hendrix S.; 4th grade: Montana K., Kit B., Austin T., Cody B.; 5th grade: Ayla A., Kaison L., Arthur S.

      • Camenson had the most laps for a teacher (19 laps)

      • Thank you notes + Business sponsor receipts

      • Kona Ice - reached out about May 1

      • Funding Priorities from Walks-a-thon

        • FInal Phase of Media Center cost - $25K

          • Circulation Desk

          • Group Tables

          • Shelving top refresh

          • Tables and chairs

        • Staff Lounge improvements (Ben)

          • Completed survey and onsite engagement

          • 26 responses to survey

          • Ice machine most common request

          • Add atmosphere via lighting, plants, paint, cozy seating 

          • Enhance birthday notification and admin info area

          • 2nd tier request soda machine

        • Next steps small group for brainstorming

          • Change list and listing importance

          • Timeline next steps decide budget and timing to complete.   After walkthrough with staff and admin approval also approval from PSD.   Hopefully done in August 

    • Design Contests

      • No digital designs unless they’re done in tech class 

      • Potentially move Yearbook up to first semester to space them out

    • St. Patrick’s Day Parade

      • Fun event!

      • Ben, Kate, Melissa, Christine, Nikki, Sam (who brought the bubbles and candy)

      • Have some ideas for next time.  PLan on doing again next year

      • Lots of Tavelli families in the crowd

    • Book Fair - April 27-May 1

      • Family Night - Monday, April 27, 3:15-6 pm

        • Add merch table from PTO

      • Volunteer sign up is on website and Thursday Note

        • Setup 4/23 9-11am

      • Preschool/Parent shop added 

      • E-wallets live week of 4/6

      • Budget for Staff gift cards and kids scholarships

    • Dining Fundraiser Updates

      • Music City Chicken - $321

      • $1700 raised this school year

    • Yearbook

      • Cover Contest - voting this week

        • Voting for shirts and Yearbook same time next year 

      • PTO sponsor page + PTO in action

      • Final push for orders in Thursday Note 

        • 133  orders (reminder going home this week, last call )

      • Signing pages for everyone 

    • CMAS + Celebration in the works for Grades 3-5

  • Board Elections for 26/27

    • Vote on Slate

      • Approved unanimously 

    • Term begins May 1st

    • Slate - to approve or reject:

      • President: Melissa (continuing for yr 2)

      • VP: Heather (continuing for yr 2)

      • Secretary: Ben Irwin (new term)

      • Member at Large: Kate Walker (new term)

      • Co-Treasurers: Elizabeth (continuing for yr 2) + Monica (new term)

  • Countdown to Summer- 5/6 4:30-6:30 pm (backup date 5/14)

    • What do we want to do

      • Carnival games

        • Katie, Monica and Elizabeth will organize

    • DJ

      • Melissa to ask Mr. Dalgedan

    • Food trucks

      • Kate will look into

  • Staff Appreciation 

    • Amanda to lead

      • Theme? Last year was western theme

      • Decorated the lounge (Friday before)

      • Gifts throughout the week

      • Mid week breakfast - silver grill

    • May 6-12: Nurse Appreciation Week 


  • Budget

    • Working to move accounting to quickbooks

    • Present more up to date info at each meeting

  • Open Forum

    • Store open for school supplies ordering 

    • Garden Committee (Kate) 

      • Planting to start 4/22

      • Starting a garden club Spomers Sprouts 

      • Mac bus will help with watering in June but will need additional volunteers

      • Tavelli Fence Signage proposal draft to be sent via Email
